Clarke EX40 16ST self-contained carpet extractor, 16 inch
Self-contained means it sprays, agitates and recovers in one pass, so the operator walks the machine over the carpet and the floor comes up clean behind it. That is the difference from a portable box extractor, where someone works a wand by hand.
On a corridor or an open office floor, a self-contained machine will do in an hour what a wand operator does in three. On stairs, in corners and around furniture, the portable still wins, which is why most operations end up with both.
